Lung Health Checks
The roll out of the lung health check programme is being introduced across GP practices in Harrogate and Rural District.
You will be invited for a lung health check if you are eligible. You will be invited if you are aged between 55 – 74 years old, are a smoker or ex-smoker and are registered with a GP practice in the area.

Lung Health
Eligible patients will be offered a simple face to face appointment with a healthcare professional, and depending on the results of the screening process, some people may be offered a free low‑dose CT scan to check their lungs.
You may be contacted via SMS, Telephone or a letter to attend your appointment with us at Yorkshire Health Network

The Process
Step 1: You will be invited to attend a lung health check appointment with a healthcare professional
Step 2: During the appointment the professional will have a conversation about your lung history and take your vitals (i.e. height, weight etc.)
Step 3: Depending on the results of your assessment you may be offered a referral for a low-dose CT scan, not everyone will require this. This would be an appointment with Harrogate District Hospital.
FAQ's
"Why have I been invited for this?"
You will have been invited for a lung health check if you are aged between 55-74 and you are a smoker or an ex-smoker
"I've never had lung problems / I've stopped smoking – should I still attend?"
The invitation is based on your age and smoking history recorded in your GP records. The appointment helps assess your lung health and determine whether any further tests are needed, even if you stopped smoking years ago it is recommended you attend
"My husband/wife etc has been invited, why haven't I?"
Patients are being invited in cohorts across a set timeframe and therefore all patients eligible will be contacted in due course.
